oxygen sensors - can you replace/splice in universal ones?

I have the 17098 sitting in my garage now, although I think the new injectors solved my problems, so I won't be installing yet.

Just curious though; the 17102 that I tried ordering from here: http://www.oxygensensorfactory.com/s....epc?sku=17102 since it was the only place I could find it, refunded my money because they didn't have it in stock. It looks like the BMW OEM would be the only option to replace.

The 17098 is the longer of the two wires, could I just run two of them instead? It's definitely a big price difference and I want to know if that would work. Seems to me that the sensors are the same except for the different wire length/color.

Anyone???

It couldn't hurt. The difference is pretty much just wire length and color of sheathing. The LSU is the same, connector is the same. Just don't mix them up.

I have been having on and off issues with my car idling rough and at low speeds hesitating.

I had a friend scan the car with his scanner and the following codes were found:

DME: 2C3E 2C2E

DSC: 5DA3 5D93

Looking online the dme code is:

Lambda probe in front of catalytic converter 2, control failure or cable transmission failure

& the DSC code 5DA3 is:

5DA3/C0 - Wheel speed sensor front right start recognition v_comparison.
5D93/C0 - Wheel speed sensor front left start recognition v_comparison

So it looks like I'm up for a new O2 sensor?

Is it avised to replace both front o2 sensors at once (using bosch 17098 & 17102) or even do all 4 at once (I'm thinking this may be overkill though?)
