Yep nailed them.

3 seconds to programe a new key.

Glad they did not mention the wing mirror clout and useless motion sensors and alarm.

So, the message at the end of Watchdog was clearly 'BMW have been retrofitting the fix to X5/X6 models and as of TONIGHT they are extending that protection to other models.'

Is that correct, or a misunderstanding on my part of what the girl said?

Anyone care to test it tomorrow?

Matt

Think we have got a result here. Following the watchdog programme BMW are finally doing something about the problem. I don't know if watchdog responded following my email to them and the link to the youtube clip of the 1M being stolen that I sent but its given BMW UK a good kick up the backside in our favour in any case!!!

I just rang BMW UK and got my e93 on the list for a software upgrade. Basically the upgrade is to be paid for by BMW UK so you have to go through them rather than directly to your dealer in the first instance. You ring BMW UK, give yr details and preferred dealer and they then pass this info onto that dealer of your choice. Your chosen dealer then will contact you within 8weeks to arrange. The number is 0800 083 4397

So looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel aye! Pass the message to any and everyone!

Moved my OBD port today. Huge peace of mind knowing the most I'll lose is a window now. Just waiting for some "OBD Disabled" stickers to arrive.

Even with the software update, I suspect thieves will be chancing it for quite some time, banking on the fact that a lot of owners won't have had the work done.

Count me in

I'd be up for this. Mine had the door lock drilled out last week and they took the OBD cover off but luckily didn't steal my car. Every morning I wake up wondering if it will still be there....

Not meaning to frighten you but they may have just cloned the key with the intention of coming back for the car at a later date. Get a steering lock on there asap. Worst case get all the keys redone BUT that in the region of about £1000

They were mentioned either earlier in this thread or in one of the others - hang on, I'll find the picture.

Edit: Post here with details.

The guy is doing them at cost price, when they arrive I'll post pics.
