I don't believe you can do it via iDrive. You have to use the BC hidden menus instead. See here.

Follow the instructions to unlock the menus, then select 07.00 KTMP-MOM.

easy way to show temp is free torque app and a bluetooth ELM327 from ebay for £11. Works perfect on my car and I think the paid version is supposed to be very good. Worth £11 anyway just to keep your eye on thermostats.

That's precisely what I do, also keep an eye on boost pressure at the same time
Loads quicker than going through the painful logging in process

Probably because the temperature moves around a lot during regens etc, ordinary cars get to temp and stay there

Not reaching optimal running temperatures (or fluctuating temps due to regens) is normally a trait of the diesel and not petrol. But you can still check the coolant temp in the same way.

Hi Abbot26, the app is called TORQUE. I currently use it myself with a OBD2 elm327 adaptor from ebay.

yep mate, there is a torque pro for £3 which does lots more but the free one is good enough for temp/voltage/maf/...etc.You need the OBD2 as well which plugs in the OBD port.

250985319247
try this number in ebay. I use this an its cheap. I don't leave it plugged in cos its live all the time and I have moved my OBD port to a different location.+ what o0timbo0o says is probably right.

I just picked up this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Di...I343BOSL0E288W

Works very well with the Torque pro app!
Can only recommend.

I do not leave this plugged into the port. I always remove it when I arrive.
