Does new battery require programing?
Just had the battery cable to fuse box recall work performed yesterday and had the dealer install a new battery since the oe one was six years old. My 335i was built June 2007 and has the white battery. The dealer told me that programing or registration of the new battery to my car wasn't required which is contradictory to what I've read. I didn't lose radio or power seat presets which I thought I would if the battery is disconnected, so I'm wondering if my battery was actually replaced? Anyone know if all E9x batteries need to be programed to the car or if it's possible to keep your presets when you disconnect the battery?

According to the following thread, radio & seat presets survive a battery replacement:
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...ecting-Battery And fwiw, I've seen posts where the white top (non AGM) battery doesn't need to be registered if replaced with the same battery. |

1/ A new equivalent battery requires registration
2/ A new battery of differing capacity (i.e. the Ah rating) or chemistry (AGM vs. flooded) requires coding, VO update AND registration 3/ All batteries will have some kind of manufacture date on them somewhere, somehow. Go look at yours and see if it's a 2012/2013. |
