Irvine BMW strikes out
So to say I am pissed is a huge understatement.
I had an appointment today to get my downpipes installed and my same, reoccurring problem came back full force. I've taken my vehicle to the dealership THREE times in the past few months for a 'squeak' at a roll and a clicking noise while slow turning. The last service 'manager' said he knew the issue as soon as he heard it and would take care of it. I got my car back the next day, didn't hear a sound..but the next few days I heard it again, and continued to every so often. They replaced the brake pads, rotors and calipers so I figured maybe it just needs to be broken in. A few weeks later here I am, experiencing the exact same fucking problem. What should I do? This is a complete joke that I need to continue making the trip to the service center. I've asked for the most senior person there and always get a voice mail with no return call. Any help/advice is much appreciated!! Edit: Got a call back from the Service Manager asking me to come in a gain and show them assured me they will fix it. If it does get fixed I will post the results. Last edited by casmako; 05-03-2013 at 09:51 PM.. |

that must be super frustrating... but, how is this Irvine BMW's fault? I agree just as much as anyone else about most dealerships being shady, but so far, your story says Irvine BMW has done (and continues to do) their part in trying to resolve the issue. Have you paid for those brake replacement parts and labor? Have you paid for the first service? Will you have to pay for the third service?
If you dont trust their techs, then just take it to another dealer or independent shop even.

Just a thought, but maybe try another dealer? I think Shelly BMW and Crevier BMW are relatively close. I would have to agree though, going to a dealership is annoying. Long drive (atleast for me) and wait times are ridiculous. Good luck

They specialize in the service of this vehicle, I would assume such a well established company could resolve an issue over three visits. Yes they try, but trying really is not acceptable in this case. My vehicle is still under warranty (thank goodness), so no charge for the service. That is why I am asking for help/advice..for another shop/dealer. I'll take it to Crevier and see if they have had this problem |

A search on this forum and you will find out the rolling squeak is a rather common issue. It's coming from the e-brake so replacing rotors and pads won't help. I have never seen a definitive answer on how to fix this.

Never saw that as the cause in my searches. Thank you for that! I will bring that up when I drop my car off!

I used to take mine to Santa Ana Crevier! They were always upfront. Talk to Jason , if he's still there. But yeah I also have the same squeaking noise. starts at from a roll and goes away at about 15-20mph, right?

I have it all the time and I've learned to ignore it. Just search on the forum to see if anyone have found a solution. It could be worse, like actual broken parts.

Yup, i ignore it. I recently replaced with stoptech brake rotors and pads and Squeeks are gone. My tech told me it has to do with rear brake sensors.

I recently replaced my brakes with Hawk HPS pads and the rolling squeaks are gone. Been 5k so far and no noise. I reused the old OEM sensor even though the HAWK came with it.

No way in hell I could ignore an incessant noise like that. It would make every moment I drive the car a diagnostic event and would kill the joy that you are supposed to get when you step up and buy something better than a Kia Rio. Fix it or take it back. That's my motto.
