:: jm3as needs coilover help! ::

i have a buyer for my springs/shocks susp. and i know SoCal always has the best deals and parts moving from one hand to another.

i'll be flying in town from wednesday - saturday for bimmerfest.

im hoping i can get you guys' help to keep your eyes and ears peeled for any used sets up for sale. im hoping to stay around 900 for kw v2 or something along the lines. i'll bring a prepaid label to ship it back up to seattle myself.

im swamped with edits and getting things geared up for bimmerfest so i can't keep an eye out as much as i want in the forums. hopefully you soCal guys can just help me out and PM me with any deals you run into.

help my stance for seattle. lmao

I think for $900 you're going to have to settle for V1s. Or just stay patient and hope you get lucky, though at that point that deal may be too good to be true.

If I remember correctly, ST are pretty good but shouldn't be used for guys that see snow. I believe the steel isn't the same as what KW uses.

ST coils are the same as KW V1, just not stainless steel or something like that. I wouldn't use them anywhere that snows.

They are much more comfortable and not nearly as bumpy and bouncy as my oem sport suspension with 19s and non run flats, highway cruising is probably the most comfortable but even big bumps that i know normally would have caused me to jump in my seat aren't a problem at all, the car feels so much more planted to the ground. I absolutely love driving it like this in comparison. Also to answer your question about the difference in KW V1 and ST. Same company but ST has a different metal which would cause rusting and corrosion only in places where it snows, not because of the snow. Because the salt that people put on the roads to melt the snow. Ive heard you can spray the coils with some anti rust spray before driving in such conditions but if you want that extra piece of mind go with KW V1.

ah! so its the salt not the moisture. they rarely use salt here in the NW, unlike the east coast. and if it were to snow and the roads were to get salted, the car would stay in the garage.

go with ST! since the car will be in the garage during snowy conditions then you should be ok, the extra buck saving could help out a bit. Also you could just get some of that rust spray and spray down the coils every once in a while during winter as a precautionary

I have STs yep, they are made by kw, people say they can't see /shouldn't see snow because of the salt on the roads mostly, it's not the water part so if you're only going to be seeing rain it'll be fine, good luck
