Turn the headlight switch to the park light position or enable the daytime running lights feature via the dash board control.

turn DRLs off with idrive or with the turn signal stalk if you don't have idrive, set light switch to "auto", angel eyes only are on when car is on

this way the amber parking lights aren't on. if you want to do just angel eyes and fogs you need to get it coded

I know that feeling OP... First time = 45 mins for me. Now about 10 minutes. There's a secret to installing it.

when i installed a set on my cousins e92 i was expecting it to be a real pain based on everything i had read..but i got lucky, it ended up taking me maybe 15 mins per side to remove/install. i could barely get my hand in the opening but i have pretty skinny fingers so i had a bit of room to work. was a much bigger hassle on my e90.

It certainly has nothing to do with the smallish space afforded by BMW on an E92 to get them installed - I can take the factory H8 bulbs in & out in 5sec

Lux H8 was about 10min on PS - and yes, about 1 hr on the DS. It totally sucks - but the rewards are nice

I don't know whether the difference in difficulty between the sides is because I'm right handed or what, and I don't believe for an instant those that say they install them as fast as the stockers.

I still think it has something to do with the tolerances on the locking tabs &/or not enough space allowed for pushing IN before turning. I've tried many different factory style AE's and Weislicht LED's - never had any problems whatsoever with any of them getting installed quickly...

Install is not hard. You just need to pay close attention to how the three prongs were arranged when removing the OEM bulb.

The Stock H8 is easy cause you have a 90 degree bend to grab onto. Most AE kits are just perfectly round.

I use double sided tape and wrap it around the aftermarket angel eyes to aid in some grip. (Then I remove the tape when they are installed). It also helps to note the orientation of the stock bulb so you can match it up quicker.

Glad you got them in finally but really sorry that your hands took such a beating. I guess i've done this so many times now it takes me about 5 minutes for both sides. the new LUX H8 V4 lights are easier to get installed thanks to a few changes we made to the base unit.

Not sure anymore.......I got them late last year and only had a chance to install them about 3 weeks ago. I'll try to figure it out.

I will also add my voice to the chorus of pain, it took me a few hours to install mine as well. I promised myself I would never mess with it again.

That's probably one of the best ideas I heard in a while.

here is a pic with one LUX in...I started a thread on this exact subject awhile back..it was ridiculous how hard it was to get this in...you gotta just stick your hands in the hole of doom and push into socket while rotating clockwise...forget about alignment...just keep spinning it with pressure and all of sudden it grabs as it goes into socket...took me few hrs to do it first time...had to do it again on new car 4-5 months ago and it took over an hr again.

Hope the V4 is alot easier to install....btw, I also had to get grommet tool out and had to grind down the plastic 3 tabs to make them thinner and I put vaseline on the tabs..it helped.
