After market emblem keep up...
Does anyone else have the after market emblems that seem to turn yellowish after owning them for awhile in the sun? Does anyone have any solutions like a clear coat or something to put on them to make them last longer?
Thanks! |

My hood emblem itself didnt turn yellow but it's peeling from the base, and the glue remnants under it are turning yellow... It lasted ~7 months through the winter and was only like $10 from some chinese auto store so I feel like I got my money's worth. I'll just grab a new one next time I'm there lol.
I believe it's the UV rays that make it go yellow after time though, so I guess you could try applying a clear UV-protective vinyl over the emblem, see if that prevents the fading. Last edited by Kalidian; 05-14-2013 at 01:28 PM.. |

With all that trouble and extra cost to try and protect it, you could just buy an OEM one...

With all due respect, buy a real OEM one, not some third party knockoff. If you want pretty colors, get the vinyl sticker thingies from eBay.

Yea just get a oem one. Bought a non-oem one from eBay once when I had a e46. Total crap. The letters Werent the same and the blue was wasn't the same. As a BMW owner you could clearly tell its was fake. It will look as bad as putting a M3 logo on a non-M 3 series.

Yep, stay away from aftermarket emblems and stickers. The CF emblems turn yellow and the stickers shrink as they heat up. I was into the CF thing with my 135. Loved my BMW CF performance parts though

I bought this a few weeks ago and love them. PERFECT fitment for being vinyl sticker and you keep your OEM emblems. It comes as a set for wheels, hood, trunk and steering wheel. I got mine in black but you can choose whatever color. Link below. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271102351951...84.m1439.l2649
