As noted in many other threads Thule is the manufacturer of the BMW base rack but there as much info about fitting Thule parts onto the base rack.

Over this past winter I was able to very easily fit the Thule 724 ski carrier onto my BMW rack using the Thule parts.

The best part about the 724 carrier is that the rectangular washers that Thule makes for this rack fit the groove of the BMW rack perfectly and could be used for other applications.

I do not have pictures unfortunately, but figured I would share.
