Suspicions confirmed, amp shot (water damage)

There is plenty of information in this forum and I appreciate all the DIY info, but piecing it all together is a little difficult. So, just a few questions to get things rolling (and my post count up so I can pm? lol)

1) If I just buy an OEM amp, is it plug and play, or does it need to be recoded or some shit?

2) If I get one of the "compatible" amps listed within the forum (I have the hifi system), is that basically plug and play, with the assistance of one of those nifty harnesses I see guys selling, or will that need some special coding?

3) Surely, either of these options have to be cheaper than the $1000 I was just quoted by the dealership to fix it, amirite?

Talk to this guy: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bmw-e90-hifi...981776&vxp=mtr

The HiFi OEM amp is not part of the coding scheme, i.e., unplug the bad one and plug a good one and you will be good to go.

JL audio xd600/6 + Technics harness is plug and play. Just keep your gains low with stock speakers.

Both are a good choice, much better than getting raped by the dealer.
