Their ATL fluid looked to be the closest to the factory spec but Amsoil specifically told me to use OEM fluid only when I asked them about it. Not sure if its worth the risk. It's a bit of a lottery if you want to use a non OEM oil in a ZF.

Funny when I called amsoil they suggested their low viscosity product for my ZF 6hp. I would feel comfortable running it. Im currently running Mercon SP sold by ford dealers , it was designed for ZFs in fords...specs are identical to shell 1374 (life guard 6)..I called shell to verify they produce both. Enrita mentioned he is running redline D6.

I would continue to run the Mercon SP as you are correct, its supposedly the same as the ZF LG6/Shell 1374. The Redline D6 or Amsoil ATL appear to have the closest viscosity characteristics to the OEM oil but the friction requirements remain a mystery. I just wish the OEM oil was cheaper. At $50/qt (where I live) its ridiculous!
