Brakes and Rotors

Just wondering if there is a code that the car will give you when you need to replace brakes and or rotors. I am at 34k miles on my 2007, when would I probably have to replace pads and or rotors? Also, when in reverse and I brake, the brakes squeak, but only in reverse, when just driving they don't make any sound.

When the pads reach minimum, the brake light comes on in the gauge cluster and stays on. The CBS will read --- miles on the maintenance screen. The owners manual explains it.
