Advice needed on mods
I have a 2009 335i coupe. My mods are: H&R springs, RPI scoops, drop-in filter, AR catless downpipes, HPF gen 2 exhaust, Cobb AP on stage 2 drive map. [Cali 91 octane]
I want to do some cosmetic stuff like maybe new wheels an a carbon fiber hood. But I really want more power! My questions are: 1. Are H&R springs safe On an otherwise stock suspension? 2. Can I run meth on my cobb tuned car? 3. How SAFE is methanol? It worries me a lot!! 4. Should I drop the money for a limited slip? 5. How do I get my car into the 11s? Thanks! |

H and r race or sport? You should be fine it just wears your shocks faster. You can easily run meth with Cobb need to get protuned though. Meth is pretty safe many of the members run it all the time without problems. LSD is worth it makes the car so much better. Good luck!

2.you could, but you would need a piggyback or a standalone ecu to control the meth as COBB can not control meth. 3.its safe depending on your set up. Trunk mounted set-ups are safer to prevent engine fires. or safe for the engine? you should get a meth kit with a failsafe. HSF-4 is a great kit. 4.sure, LSD is always helpful. 5. Tires & a couple gallons of e85 should help too. (driver mod if 6mt, launch is key) |

+1 on the upgraded intercooler
Also, I'd personally try mixing some E85 if you can get it in your area. It's a simpler and cleaner solution on this platform, at least in my opinion. About 2 gallons per tank is enough to run the Cobb aggressive maps -- plus the stuff is cheap. I don't have anything against meth, as I run a lot of it on my supercharged Corvette. The N54's closed-loop fueling and great tuning software just make E85 a really great solution for making some real power.
