What exactly is happening here? Time to hit up a body shop?

Bought this car in April. Have taken rather good care of the car as a whole, noticed this today, and not exactly sure what is going on. Was definitely not like this when purchased.
I washed the car (without drying it, obv) today, to get a deeper look at this issue, and still can't figure out what is going on here. I haven't probed enough at the fender to find out if this is a wrap, or what, but I'm hoping someone around here can identify this...

It's very hard for me to tell where these are on the car because they're so close, but a theory:
it could be clear stone protection vinyl. You bought the car in April, but it's an '06, so clearly you're not the first owner. Perhaps the previous owner had it applied, and it's just been dinged up. Even more likely if the scratches you see are on the hood, bumper, fenders, or doors aft of the wheel wells.

If you can post a picture not quite as close up, that would definitely be very helpful!
