When did your MPG improve? and was it a drastic change?
So long story short:
a. drove like my gma for the first 1200 miles. Changed the oil and filter. Average MPG was in the 18-19 range. b. drove HARD for the next 2000 miles. Changed oil and filter again. (not necessary I know, but it made me FEEL good). Average MPG was in the mid 17 range. (17.4 to be car computer accurate). c. dropped in a k&n filter a few weeks after the second oil change... over two tanks of gas my mileage was mid 21 (21.8 to be exact) d. Yesterday I dropped the original filter back in there in place of the k&n just to see if it's the filter doing it... I'm now in the 26.4 MPG... Driving conditions are the same. This is my daily driver. City 65-70% of the time. AC on auto all the time. Ever since break in of 1200, I've continued to drive it pretty hard... (not spinning wheels or anything, but DS driving a lot...) This is a pretty drastic change over the past month... a happy one at that... so while I'm not complaining AT ALL, I'm just curious - is this normal and what other experience? Ok - After some HARD driving mostly in DS mode, I'm back down to 21-22mpg...(put on about 50 more miles out to the lake)
Just out of curiosity - could just cleaning the area where the MAS is located be enough to make a MPG change??? |
Appreciate
