Wow. Can't you lease an M5 for that amount?

My uncle is leasing his SL65 AMG through his business, and he's only paying $1200ish a month??

I wrote a FAT $53k check from an existing line of credit and it increased the monthly payment by roughly $400. Insurance is about $1200/year...

Car is purchased.

Here you say you put $30,000 down and financed the rest. Later you put $33,000 down and financed $20,000. You also said the car was $53,000 plus the cost of the extended warranty on top of that. What happened the amount changed so much you confused the CA and he gave you the maint for free? I'm confused because none of your numbers line up.

Ok here we go again, I paid 53k for the vehicle whickh I have purchased, yes PURCHASED, which included bluetooth/ipod intergration/ and 2 yr extended warranty. The reason I bought the extended warranty is because the amount of driving I do, the 4 years/50,000 mile is too short , w/ the extra 2 years it put it to 6 years/100,000 miles maintanance free. I put down 30k and fianance the rest 6years/23K . you got it... good

Man guys, anyone ever heard about the time value of money? Not saying everyone is concerned about investing their money but you can make your money work for you rather than tying it up in an asset that depreciates like mad.

To each their own but for those not putting much down, don't feel bad as you are better off not putting any money down or very little. Invest instead

And of course I understand it's nice to have a lower monthly payment by applying a larger down payment. Just my two cents.

I understand where you are coming from, I looked at every option on purchasing this vehicle, I have lease vehicles before and never gonna do that again, leasing this vehicle (335i) your payments are $700/month or more a month plus interest w limited mileage and also your insurance is up there as well. Plus BMW hold there value up. If I had to choose either to lease or purchase, I rather purchase!! Plus I have a house anyways....

Leased/36m/580amonth/zero down/30Kmiles/business gets the write off, debt not on credit! Doesn't make sense to drop a huge down on lease.

If purchasing, it's all relative, pay now, or pay later. A friend of mine dropped 5k on a Tahoe and didn't have gap, totaled it. Didn't make sense to put in 5k, never recouped it. Go 0 down if you can!

Why do people always assume that once they invest their money, they always gain from their investment? It's as if investing is guaranteeing return...Want to hear one of my investment horror stories? Besides, what's the point of having money if you can't touch it, use it, or do the things you want? If you can't, then you don't really own your money...it owns you.

Sorry if it sounded personal :-) It's just my point of view. I lost my fortune in stock and with that kind of money, I could have gotten myself a bunch of bimmers...but I didn't...and I regret everyday that I didn't treat myself nicely. It's just to show you that having money isn't everything. It's how you use it is what's really important.
Up until now, it still wasn't easy for me to pull the trigger and order a new one. I'm still thinking, "man, if I put that money in the bank to earn interest and the money saving from insurance, I'm throwing away at least $200/month just for having the car." But if I don't, then I'd grow old having a boring life. I'd probably die at 80 with more than a mil in my account, but still not knowing what it's like seating in a brand new bimmer ;-)
