flaming exhaust
I am fbo with Vishnu pwm meth system, and also full cattless with muffler delete. installed vibrant 1792 resonators in place of secondary cats. so my question is does anybody else shoot flames out exhaust after wot pull? weird thing is, is that I only get flames out of my driver side pipe and not passenger side. I think the driver side exhaust is for bank one but I am not sure. could I have a problem with the bank that is shooting exhaust? or is this related to the meth?
thanks

I've seen flames on all my cars in the past 5 or 6 years. (Well friends have).
My vote is normal. Especially on catless. My z06 does it and it has stock cats. It is tuned with a muffler delete though. |

Completely normal... My GNX does it and it occurs because of unburned hydrocarbons exiting the combustion chamber and then entering the exhaust and igniting. More common in cars that use extra fueling ie meth. Cats usually burn them off (unburned hydrocarbons) before they make it to the tailpipe. In the case of my GNX it is because of a tune that makes it run rich during shifts which is when the flames occur (most common time)..

Catless + richer tune up top = flames.
My STi had some serious maf issues when I first got it built, if I jabbed the gas then let off it would shoot a solid flame every time. I scared the crap out of a couple old ladies at night with it, or would use the mini explosion to set off car alarms in parkades. If you're worried, do some data logging, and make sure you aren't running horribly rich. However a little flame out the back is to be expected. With no cats you have nothing to handle any unburnt fuel in your exhaust, so hot unburnt fuel + hot everything = EXPLOSIONSSSSS! and fire out the back, just fyi. |

Ever since my secondary cat delete and NLS/2step kit from BMS I've been popping flames pretty regularly. Either on a redlined NLS or during a 2 step. I've even found that if its too cold my LPFP can't keep up with the e85 and it'll cut out at ~6k rpm... and when it does it ROLLS flames out the back. Sounds like a machine gun. Guess it's pretty cool...
