Opinions and recommendations please
I previously had a golf mk5 gt 170 and on the be forums everyone was highly rating " jom " coil overs as they were reasonably priced and worked well . I have found jom coil overs for my e90 and was wondering if anyone would rate them for the bmw ?
I'm not looking for rock hard suspension , I only want a drop to Finnish the look I'm after So as titled any opinions and recommendations welcome please Last edited by owene90; 06-17-2013 at 06:26 PM.. |

I looked into them as well and there are very mixed opinions out there. People with small hatchbacks like golfs, polos etc seem perfectly happy with them but people with bigger heavier cars such as an E90 seem to complain.
In the end you get what you pay for and I decided against them, £200 or whatever they were just made me question them. |

not with someone else's barge pole!
would much rather have a set of Eibach prokit/sportline springs (~£180), and the OE dampers rather than the JOM crap. if you could stretch to it, 650£ for a Bilstien B12 kit is where i would (and will) be putting my money. depends how good nick your dampers are in (mileage?) if you need to replace the whole lot, or just get an eibach spring kit. |

The price says it all to me, 200 for coilovers?! Are they made from recycled chinese coke cans or something?
I had some Eibach Pro Street S coilovers on my old S4, they cost about 800 quid and they were average at best, I can't imagine how a set of 200 quid ones would feel.... I think its fair to say you really do get what you pay for in the world of suspension, and its not an area Id want to compromise on in a big heavy fast car. My 330d has Eibach pro springs and Msport shocks and handles very nicely, also sits low without being stupid and unusable too. IMO, you would get much more bang for buck buying a decent set of springs than cheap coilovers with a crap ride and handling, they can ruin a car! I know someone who put some on an S3, 2 weeks later they were on ebay due to being so horrible |

Adjustable coilovers, one setting is correct for your spring rate, 99 are wrong
![]() Go for a decent non adjustable set if you go for coilovers. Just my opinion of course.

Wouldn't touch cheap ones full stop. Better off with a decent quality non adjustable set.

Many thanks for everyone’s replies, its pretty much summed up my gut feelings anyway.
Ideally I would need to change the shocks too because my car is touching the 100,000 miles mark. Not tat there Is anything wrong with them but it would be just my luck for one of the to go just after I go through all the effort of fitting new springs. I do like the idea of m sport shocks and a decent set of lowering springs , its paramount that I don’t have a car that’s got rock hard suspension because I do a lot of mileage . |

Exactly what I've got, Eibach springs and Msport shocks, its a nice firm ride without being crashy, and is a very smooth ride cruising at 80-100.
Certainly nothing that would annoy you at all |
