Car unlocked and windows half down
Hello all,
My car had all it's windows halfway down and all the doors unlocked this morning - the moonroof remained closed. I know I locked it the previous evening and I put my key away (so doesn't remain in my pocket) - so I'm 99% certain that I didn't accidently hit the unlock button. Having done a search, it seems that this appears to be a fairly common problem with no real clear solution. Apart from taking it to BMW to get various bits changed (the car only has the driveline warranty) what other options are available to me to prevent this happening again ? Cheers. |

Has happened to me quite a few times before but have never left it overnight. Always spotted it. When pressing the lock button I always look back just incase . Have no idea why it happens. It seems to be some kind of software glitch as when it happens it always takes about 5 presses of the fob to do anything else ie lock or unlock. Its like it freezes somehow.

There is a setting of some sort. I know nothing about how it works but ive been cleaning the car at times and when i open the door it would automatically roll the window down half way. On closing the window will roll back up. I have to lock and unlock for this to stop happening. Last weekend i accidentally pressed the open button twice like a double click on a mouse and the front windows rolled down halfway again. But the previous time were like you had, locked the car and come back to it with windows down. Could have been the double click happening as keys were in my pocket. Need to look into it more really!

I though that was an 'easy access' feature on verts and coupes? the half-roll-down to allow you to get in and out of the car easier in tight spaces???

Double 'clicking' the open button half rolls down the windows to let you get in and out the car easier and shuts when the door is closed. Also holding the open button opens the windows however much you want until you release the button, likewise, holding the lock button closes them the same.. Maybe accidentally doing this caused your problem? |

a mate of mine had this on his car, dont mean to cause alarm but it turned out his lock was damaged, it is where someone tries to unwind windows down using the lock without the key to then steal the car,
in your case i hope it was software glitch not the latter regards |
