It's not about boost, it's about timing. There are many piggy, and flash maps that run 14-18lbs race/aggressive maps, with lots of timing, requiring 93-100 octane.

Finally found the problem. Wasn't overheating. Was the exhaust Vanos solenoid causing me limp mode. Replaced it and everything is fine.
