Had the car less than a year got pulled over exiting north bound express lanes off I5 at Pike by a pair of motorcycle cops looking for HOV offenders, two of us in car but got warned for no front plate...now have the us mill works tow hook mount...looks good

I have a buddy who put magnets on the bumper of his e46 and when he needed it he just slammed it on and it stuck at highway speeds. So if you don't want to drill holes it's another way to have the best of both worlds.

I don't think that's the law. Isn't if they give you one your registration will also state your front plate needs to be mounted unless you weren't issued one because of your vehicle, not because you not having holes on your bumper.

I just ordered a tow hook front from US MillWorks, my e90 is more of a head turner than my sleeper M-class just in case I don't have time to be pulled over for stupid shit.

I'll toss in my .02 risking a jinxing, but haven't had a front plate on my last 4 vehicles over 8 years, and have never had a question about it. Even when I've been pulled over multiple times, it just doesn't come up.

BUT, you are giving a LEO, ANY LEO a ready made reason to pull you over whenever they like... Add in illegal tint, it would be super easy to get pulled whenever Officer Friendly gets bored.

I got pulled over in Lakewood earlier today, the officer pulled a real crazy U-turn in traffic just to pull me over and cut off two others that were close behind me to get behind me. The ticket's $124, I'll pay it in the morning and count my losses. I got out to secure on my tow hook plate on the front which was in my trunk because I was polishing my front bumper last night when the officer went back to his car and I waved it to him.

I know, I'm at fault for not remembering this morning to install it, but at least give a guy a warning for my first time.

Worst part is his tint was deeper than mine even on his fronts it didn't look like 24% and his Explorer had a grill bar in front of his front plate so I couldn't even see his plate just "Washington" poked through. Sometimes...just sometimes...

the meter maid was in Seattle. They were writing another ticket for an illegal parking job which was crap.

my wife got pulled over in Edmonds for failure to use a turn signal, and the cop brought up the front plate then.

I normally get the most grief from the cops patrolling the carpool only exit off SB I-5 express lanes in DT Seattle

I bought the hidden plate frame thing off amazon, but haven't installed it yet....

Just FYI since some of you may be close, Oregon highway patrol loves pulling over out of staters without a front plate. $190 ticket with little chance of a fix-it unless the computer fails and they are forced to have you sit on the side of the road for 25 minutes making your 15 hour drive home all the more exciting. WSP never seemed to care at all
