330d engine pinking noise
Hi everyone
Have noticed on my lci 330d auto, when engine is cold for first few miles, when i pull away from standstill, especially on an incline, the engine emits a pinking rattle type noise around 1500rpm. Only till about 1700rpm when its smooth again. Bit strange &hard to explain. When stationary on drive and in park, if i rev the engine to say 2500rpm then let the revs drop to idle, as it slows down i get the same noise again as it passes through that rev range. Apologies if im talking bollocks, and once the engine is warmer it sounds ok. Although i do have to say, even when warm its not as quiet as id expect a 6cyl diesel to be. Has anyone else thought this, or experienced this with their 330d? Cheers Garry |

I had that once with a van at work, it was like a metallic rattling/ pinking. In the end it was the injectors that had failed. My first thought is injectors with your 330d or fuel maybe?

My first thought was a chirping injector.
