Fuel Pump?
Hey Everyone...
1. Is the fuel pump on the 335 usually noisy? I usually always drive with music on, however I drove today without any and I would here some noise coming from the fuel pump. I got my car in February 2007, I don't know what build it was. I used to have an audi A4 1.8T and that same noise would happen when the fuel filter would be dirty. 2. Is this an indication of a possible future failure? Should a bring it in for service? 3. If a fuel pump would fail, wouldn't it cause a lean condition and possible engine damage? For example, lets say we are running WOT, and the fuel pump would fail at that moment, there would not be enough fuel in the engine?!? Let me know. Thanks |

I'll try to help...but my Jan 07 build date fuel pump is still going.
1) I don't think the fuel pump is noisy, usually I hear a whirring noise circulating coolant, etc, but it's not loud. I don't recall anyone posting the fuel pump getting noisy when it goes out. 2) If it's loud enough to hear over the motor I would bring it in. Besides, utilize your warranty period. 3) Again, according to others, when the fuel pump does go, the symptoms are long cranking times and in the end limp mode. I'm sure the ECU will throw your car into limp mode if you start having lean conditions. |
