Hi, i dont know since I didn't do the job myself. But I am guessing the shop that i got the job Don at knows because they do service quite a handful of bmw's as well. I'll be taking it back tuesday (statuary holiday Monday in canada) to have them recheck the whole ignition system. Thanks!!!

Nothing to do with adaption... never reset adaption without specific reason! And know how to drive the car after a adapation reset! (Easy for 100miles!!) Your car adaption does a lot of things and this should never been done under wot.
Engine light -> check the work of the shop... big change they made an error with re-attaching stuff or you are unlucky and run into something else... About the torque, just make sure they are fixed but not overtight them.. a torque wrench is ideal but plugs can be done without (to my experience).

You don't need a special torque wrench; you just need a thin walled socket to get down in there.

I could see why the OP is confused.
To the thread starter: The first thing you need to do pull any check engine light codes and find out what the car says is wrong. Since the spark plugs were recently changed I would check to make sure they are the correct part number, gapped correctly, and tightened correctly. One of the above is likely your issue, wrong plug, wrong gapping, or not tight enough. If anything else was touched during installation that could also be the culprit. A special thin walled socket is needed for spark plugs and not many people have one handy unless they've worked on this car before or have an extensive tool set at their disposal. |
