Steering Lock Light - Flat Batt
As of late, my car was in the workshop getting dressed up and as such had been off road for almost 2.5 months. Since getting her back, I had the dreaded red light steering column light come on the dashboard, however, my car would still start and still drive. Nonetheless, I took it to Grosvenor Motor Works in Reading and had it coded/cleared - so no more light.
Whilst this has been going on, I've also experienced a flat battery on about 3 different occasions this past week.. Now, is there a connection between the Steering Column going red and getting a flat battery? I know the steering column is a big cost to get replaced but frankly, my car's only done 54k and is a 56' model. I do think that it being not driven for over 2.5 months will contribute to a somewhat weaker battery but I have driven it plenty over the week for it the be recharged. What is going wrong and will I get in trouble later down the line for having the steering light coded? Also, if I get the batt checked to see that it is infact on its way out and have it replaced, do I need to have the new battery coded and if so, how much would this usually be? I'm worried about my steering column as I don't particularly fancy paying a silly figure only to have got my car back not even a week or so. Any help fellas? |
