So, I'm thinking of opening the radio up and then cleaning and shimming all of the ribbon connectors with paper or cardstock to see if it makes any difference. Anyone specifically tried this or read about it online and seen whether there were any results?

As I mentioned, I (and a couple of others) have observed that even when flaky the display will still illuminate all pixels in the built-in pixel tests. That's just weird. I'm thinking it probably also means there's nothing wrong with the display sandwich itself.
