Well ya, I wouldn't doubt a modified one wouldn't get you in trouble with the dealer. My question is in regards to the delete, do these things come into play for regular service?

Discovered that my car was missing the OEM clutch stop, and this was never fiddled with, so just fitted the Burger Tuning Clutch Stop that a friend lent me, and must say it really does help my gear changes. Took one rubber washer off because it was just a bit too close to biting point (which is not good for the gearbox) and was causing me to slip the clutch on faster gear changes 1st to 2nd.
With regards to the CDV delete (still have to do this), you can simply delete and chances are there is no reason for the agents to remove those covers unless there is a gearbox or clutch issue. So they would never typically spot this unless they were looking for it. But personally I would prefer the OEM looking modified CDV fitted, especially if the car is still under motorplan (warranty)... |

I bought my first BMW a few months ago, a 2009 328xi with 6 manual. I thought I wanted an A4, but the seats were a big factor in my decision, I'm 6'3" 220lbs. The 328 is wayyyy more comfortable, and ultimately I'm glad I chose the BMW.
I decided to join this forum when I searched for a few tranny observations I had, and found out about the CDV. So, I'm not sure if all my issues are related to the CDV or not, but it has certainly sparked my interest. I also don't like the long clutch travel, so I'll be looking into a clutch stop as well. There have been days I have thought what the hell is wrong with me, I've been driving a stick for 15 years and now can't drive this luxury car properly. So, my BIG issue is with a 2nd gear pop-out. It's happened to me 3 times, always right as I'm releasing the clutch. It violently pops the shifter into neutral with a loud bang! The first time I figured I just didn't get it into gear. The 2nd and 3rd time make me wonder though. Am I just not getting it into 2nd gear, or could there be a bigger issue?? Could this be related at all to the CDV? Maybe I was unknowingly releasing too early or something. I don't double clutch. Cheers, |

A few times I had the shift pop back out when I put it on 2nd but always thought it was a problem with my shifting and still do. I haven't had it happened to me as of late since I've been more careful with the shifts and also I've change the tranmission fluid to Redline D6. The shifts were buttery smooth when I had it changed. It made a huge difference in the feel.
I'm also looking to do the CDV delete but I've been busy putting on cosmetic mods and just too lazy. When I do the CDV delete I'm going to to clean up my brakes too so it's delaying a simple mod. |
