I am not 100% sure of this answer, but I believe you have to "unmarry" the device from your vehicle before it can be used for another one. If this is so, then I don't think this is possible. Someone more educated please chime in!

There must be a way to reset them and restore them back to out of box settings. Must be a heavily guarded secret tho!
I'm also thinking when guys have tuning meets etc, that they have somehow cracked the secret. Doubt if their going to these meets loaded with a box of Cobb tuning devices @ $900 a pop! |

The alpina flash is a flash for the automatic trans that is done using a special cable and bmw ecu software.

It's unrelated. Alpina flash reprograms the transmission for more performance oriented behavior. It hasn't got anything to do with Cobb. Alpina flashes the TCU, Cobb flashes the ECU.

The Cobb AP can be used on an unlimited number of cars, but only one at a time. So if you want to sell a used Cobb AP you have to flash your car back to stock before sale. I guess you probably could flash a tune into your car & then reset the AP but then what do you do when you have a problem?

+1 to unmarrying. The cobb saves your vin number I believe so it would be pretty tricky to flash more than one car.
Here's how I would tackle on allowing the accessport to flash more than one car. You flash a car, and upload its data saved on the accessport to a computer. Then wipe the accessport off clean and flash another car. And then when you want to unmarry your car, you have to somehow upload your cars stock map back on to the accessport from the computer. That's how I would attack this. Hopefully this helps!

Even if it was possible, and you sold your COBB, what if you wanted to flash to stock, or another map? You'd then have to get another COBB.
You can find these used from $650-$700 on the forums. Doubt anyone has paid $900 for one.
