where do you guys get suspension done?
hey, i have a e92 335 xdrive and at some point want to start modding it out and basically start by lowering the car and improving the overall ride (losing the roll). Also want to maybe improve the look of the front and back end.
I read these sites a lot but my biggest trouble is finding out where you guys get these things done? do you do them at the dealer? DIY? ...i think the dealer is a rip off and won't do aftermarket stuff anyway...DIY...i just moved and don't have any ability/space to do any of that unfortunately. Basically, what leaves me left is an independent mechanic? but who does body work and suspension that you can trust and knows what they are talking about with regards to not just BMW but also modding out a BMW? thoughts? i'm in the pittsburgh area if you guys have any local suggestions...otherwise general discussion on how to go about starting all of this would be great!

Check your local subforum for shop recommendations. There should be a thread somewhere in there.

Also check out the BMWCCA - there is a local Allegheny chapter I think. Joining has lots of benefits, including a pretty good BMW car magazine, Roundel. They should be able to help you find a reputable mod shop that specializes in BMWs. Go to a race-prepping shop for suspension work. Make sure they have the top equipment for doing alignments. if they are a race-prepping shop then they will certainly be able to do a proper alignment, which is critically important.
