My woodgrain trim is only a couple of years old, and when I run my hands over it feels just a little bit gritty.

Anybody have any recommendations on cleaning?

You can try claybar as a first step. If that doesn't work, go to a light polish like M205 or SwirlX. Just make sure you tape off the area.

This is what I am using frequently (e.g. once a year): It gives the wood a perfect smooth finish (and smells great, this one is caramel flavored).

Hadn't considered carnauba for the woodgrain (swirl marks). Send pics of how it turns out!

Does it cause any filmy build-up?
