Best holograms ever
What would you say, if your car came back from the paint shop like this? I won't name them until they have a chance to work it out, as they are a reputable shop. But seriously, with the right equipment, how could they do/miss this? Maybe forgot to finish 2 more stages of polishing?
The thing is - they did not do any repairs on the hood, not even as a blend panel. The way it was delivered was pretty ugly, with all of the stone chips filled with white compound, and near 100% scratching with the most holograms I have ever seen! Posted from my BlackBerry Q10

Big shop, long history, great service, and high prices. That sort of rep.

Oh man the thought of them giving the car to you like that is just horrible service!

The rest of the work they did looks pretty good to me, not too much orange peel and good blending. The only other gripe I have is that the entire car is going to need to be hit with clay bar - there is a terrible grit stuck to it that did not come off with one hand wash. It was at their shop for more than a week, who knows what settled on it. Maybe that is linked to the holograms. I really have difficulty finding the time to re-detail a car a second time in one summer!

Body shops are not detailers. If the paint is good (meaning good color, no drips, solvent pops, fisheyes) they are happy. They will never be able to finish the paint to your satisfaction. Either have them pay someone who knows how to finish the paint properly (meaning you have all of 2-3 options in ON) or bring it to a detailer you trust and pay him yourself.
When I got my 09 m3 i had the front bumper and hood repainted due to stone chips, the paint job was very good (jerez black) but it was covered in sanding marks and buffer trails. The body shop meant well but they had no idea how to fix it, in the end I took it to a detailer to be finished properly. |

They might f**kup your car more, I don't trust them after this and I wont even bother to go there to get it fixed but yes I will go and talk to them and see what they offer you to get this fixed but I wont let them touch my car any more. I would go to reputable detailer and get the paint correction of entire car

LOL, depends on how bad you need your wheels. They already had it for a week, and it was quite dirty when I got it. Even on an overcast day I could see some of the halo and told them I'd be back after I check it out at home. It just didn't occur to me that it could be this extensive. It goes back this Friday.
I think a body shop _can_ understand and do everything a detailer could, if they want to. It's a matter of pride, care and professionalism. They seem to have access to the same equipment and materials, to do the job.

If the body shop was not paid to polish the hood, I see no reason for them to even try to hit it with a rotary. Those marks look like burnt paint marks/clear coat swirls done by aggressive rotary polisher. How can u take your car from their hands with this condition?

Not yet - my wife needed the car last week, so it goes back to them in a couple days.
