Some questions about my base stereo upgrade
Still need to buy the amp next month but I am upgrading from base stereo (CIC) with Technic's harness, Jehnert Flatline set (mids, tweeters, underseats), Helix HX DSP and XD600/6. Rear speakers remaining stock (I have rear PDC). I am not coding to HiFi.
1. Does it matter what type of RCA cables I use between the DSP and the amp (twisted pair with or without shield or just shielded) ? 2. I am running 4AWG power cable to the amp (with an inline fuse) via a 4AWG -> 2 x 4/8AWG fused distribution block. The power cable for the DSP can only be a maximum of around 12AWG - is it standard practice to run this size cable from an 8AWG block? 3. Any advice on setting the amp gains and amp crossover settings (bearing in mind the DSP) would be most welcome. I will be using the Jehnert crossover for the doors but not for the underseats. 4. I will be buying a microphone and USB adapter (as recommended by Helix) to tune the DSP using their latest software. Again, if anyone has already done this and has any tips, that would be great. |

1. Any shielded rca cable will be fine.
2. I would run the 4 gauge to the xd600/6, and a separate 10-12 gauge wire to the dsp. Fuse both wires of course. 3. You can set your gains properly with a multimeter. Or just do it by ear whatever sounds the best to you. |
