I was just wondering which road other locals prefer.

I tend to use the toll road because the cops seem not to mess with folks doing 70-75 on the toll road, but in a heartbeat they'll stop someone doing 65 on the Dulles Access Road.

Why they even mess with folks on a road that goes to/from one and only one place -- an international airport of all things -- is beyond me.

I take the access road since I've seen it being no different than the toll road. Most cops I see are on the toll road and not the access road anyway. On many days when going back home from work on the toll road, I'd see 3-5 cops gunning out for speeders while the access road had maybe 1.

Oh, wow. My observations are the complete opposite of yours.

I wonder if the difference in our observations have to do with the time of day?

On the occasions I'm going to/from Dulles it's either late-to-mid-afternoon, or after 10 p.m. The afternoon trips are the most common one for me (at least four times a month, round-trips, that is).
