Fractures to your pelvis and injuries to your neck and back might not be life threatening, but they are life changing for sure.

Ouch!

There's no way the train hit him square on, it's just impossible that he'd survive if so.

That could have been a Darwin winner, but mother nature failed to recapture the mutant gene recipient this time.

I don't think bmw had anything to do with this. It was a pedestrian, that means no cars involved....

I don't understand why people walk on train tracks. I see it all the time here, kids with ear buds on too. It's ridiculous.

When the train rounded a curve in the track, the train crew spotted See inside the two rails and sounded their horn, but the man didn't react, Boyd said.
Inside the 2 rails....gonna have to assume it was a direct hit. Other stories have indicated that the shape of the nose of the train helped to deflect him off the tracks after the initial impact.

There has got to be a video or something. You'd think that Amtrack would have dash cams installed for liability if nothing else....

Also, "inside the two rails" could easily mean that he was walking in between two tracks that run parallel to each other. Laymen refer to taking the train as riding the rail, not rails. So they could be referring to the rails as track 9 and track 11, etc... There is typically little room between the two tracks. I think it's this more so than a direct hit because he was only thrown 50 feet from impact. (if that's accurate as well) People have been go further than than when struck by a car at 40 mph.
