Coding and the JB4

This past weekend I met up with a fellow local 335 owner and I had my laptop and cable with me, so I offered to do some coding for him. He has a JB4 in the car, so we put it in map 0, but I was still getting errors when trying to connect with NCS Expert. Primarily I was getting "data transmission interrupted" errors.

Yesterday I installed the JB4 in my car and today I went out, put the car in map 0, and got the same error. I let the car sit for a bit, went back out to get a screenshot of the error, and I was able to connect to the car.

I'm a little leery about doing any coding on cars with the JB4 in case the data gets jumbled while the laptop is doing the actual coding. I've used the same laptop (dedicated netbook used only for the car) on my E90 pre-JB4 as well as another non-jb4 E92 with no problems.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Does it make a difference if the JB4 is ISO version?

I had never any issues with JB4 cars, I still do some coding with 335i with JB4 installed.
I'm running Standard Tools 2.12. There's something newer? link?

I do not know. I have the ISO version. What's the difference between ISO and G5?

ISO or not makes no difference.

Glad I stumbled across this - want to make sure I have the latest software before I do some coding on my own e92 w/ JB4.

What version of NCS Expert is required? Links would be appreciated (if possible of course).

The latest is BMW Standard Tools 212:

EDIABAS = 7.30
Tool32 = 4.03
INPA = 5.06
WinKFP = 5.31
NCS Expert = 4.01

The latest SP-Daten is 50.2. While 50.3 is in the oven, there are no Exx Chassis I-Level Changes.

What year/build date is his vehicle? I had the same problem because my battery voltage was too low, so I couldn't code without having a charger connected.

Either ignition is not fully on or computer is not configured or the cable is a defective one.
