Vacationing help!!

Hey guys, I'm usually on the Mid-Atlantic regional forum but my families going on vacation and were thinking of going up to Hershey park or Atlantic city. Do you guys have any suggestions on what to do up there? Family has 2 teenage boys, a teenage girl, and a 10 year old girl.

Hershey: http://www.hersheypa.com/things_to_do/ Regardless of what you choose, buy chocolate, lot of it...

Atlantic City: It's an East Coast Vegas. What would you do in Vegas that you could do with your wife and kids in tow? That's what you should do in A.C., NJ. If Cirque d'Soleil has a show there, definitely go see it.

Already checked out the website, it looks promising up in Hershey! We were really just planning on going to Atlantic city for the beach, but the more I think about it the less I like it haha.

I vote for AC.

Beach, boardwalk, better shopping(outlet), arcades for kids, shows (light show/water show), good restaurants.

hersey gets kinda boring and is in the middle of nowhere. fun for a day though.

My most vivid memory of A.C., NJ was going there as a kid in the 60s with my parents and seeing a horse dive into the water.

I doubt they have that attraction now. Did anyone else see it?

If this is a teenager/kid focused trip check out Ocean City, NJ instead of AC. There is a nice boardwalk, rides, food and it is a dry town that is family oriented. AC is nasty in my opinion unless you are going to Borgata without kids (of course) to have fun.

Another cute little town on the NJ coast is Cape May. It is small but it has a lot of charm and is perfect for a day or two.

One of my fav places in the area is Hawk Mountain. There is a nice BB "Hawk Mountain BB" with the pool and free beer. The owner is very nice. You can hike to the peak and watch birds and enjoy the view. The nature center is very cool also and they have educational nature shows with live animals for kids as well. There are some amazing mountain roads and if you have a chance to run away and burn some rubber and pads it is highly recommended :-)

Have fun!

Well, definitely check out Nemacolin Woods' website then. The activities they have available are limitless, and you can go horseback riding up there. And there's a airstrip right on the property so you don't have to drive if you don't want to. Or you can take small flights to other relatively nearby locales too, or just fly a plane in big circles and dives just for the fun of it. Also, their spa facilities are top notch. They even have a casino.

If you are going to Atlantic City, stay The Borgata, OR Revel
Revel is more of a destination spot more so than a casino.
The Borgata is a Vegas / Italian style casino with beautiful rooms n what not.
BUT for a younger family, Im not sure AC would be a good choice - Cape May / Wildwood or Hershey would probably be better suited for you.

Yeah, we just decided we would be going to Hershey last night. AC isn't really the best family vacation spot.

Stay away from AC. It's really not like Vegas at all. You can't really leave the hotel. The streets are littered with homeless people, and the city is not attractive. I would only go to AC for one day at most.

I've been to Hershey before... cute vacation for a family.

Agreed, Wildwood wouldnt be bad in that area but Hersehy is way more on the level for a family

Dont stay in AC just for the beach. If you have teenage kids, pick from Wildwood, Ocean City, Cape May, Avalon and Margate. Then you can go to the beach/do things in those resort/beach towns and visit AC.

Thought I'd update you guys, we've decided on Hershey. We're gonna stay there for a night and then go to Philly. What's some fun stuff in Philly? We plan on doing those duck boat tours and definitely going to Patz and Genos!
