What needs replacement?

I have an 08 non-sport 328, totally stock suspension with 64K miles. Suspension feels fine 99% of the time, although I will be upgrading as soon as my CPO warranty is up.

The 1% of the time it doesn't feel right and has been gradually getting worse is when taking a big dip in the road, and especially the ones where the highway department puts up a sign "dip" instead of fixing it! My back seat passengers nearly hit their heads on the roof liner, it is very jarring. This dip is on my commute to work so I know it well, and it is getting harder and harder to take with the 328. I ride in other cars when my car mates drive and they all handle it much better and don't seem to be getting worse.

I am wondering what is it? Springs, shocks, bumpstops??? Thanks.

Just some more clarification in hopes of getting some feedback:

The response is almost as if the rear suspension bottoms and then kicks back.

if your rear shocks are blown, it could cause this behavior. not enough damping force to control the spring on rebound.

do you feel like you are bottoming out the suspension? that could cause the shocks to blow.

That makes sense. Are there any indications externally that a shock is blown?

Yah there should be oil or dirt accumulated on the shock look between the fender and tire
