My stealth muffler delete plan
Ok well I'm currently running stock dps and exhaust and am looking to free up some sound until next year when I put catless dps and an aftermarket exhaust on. My plan is to remove the roughly 1 ft section of pipe before the mufflers ( leaving all hangers intact) and put simple exhaust turn downs on them while retaining the stock mufflers for unmodified appearance, even though no exhaust will be passing through them.
My question becomes does anyone know the outside diameter of the stock piping in that last section of pipe? I'd like to get turn downs in the correct size to just slip over the stock pipe and clamp on. |

I think it is 2.38" to be exact. I did use 2.5" pipe for my muffle delete, but there is a good amount of weld going from stock piping to the new piping.

you know you could do a muffler delete and reweld the stock tips to appear factory. There is no point of carrying 20-30 pounds of unused mufflers. factory exhaust piping is 2.5" I believe.

cut-outs can be welded in. quiet when you want, or not at all quiet when you want. not expensive either
only downside is, cut outs tend to leak over time. all that means is that the exhaust wont be as quiet when running the quiet mode. I only use the quiet mode when family/ wife are in the car.

Man it's a lot more than that, haha. I have a muffler delete and the factory muffler must be made out of 1/4 inch steel. Piping is 2.5 inches and I'd also recommend running straight pipe from the secondaries.

Its a very noticeable mod (under and outside). Maybe illegal in certain states also.
