Received Lemon Law Buyback Offer from BMW...
Not sure if this is the best forum to post this... I recently received and accepted a settlement from BMW on the California Lemon Law buyback of my E60 535i for a number of issues (including HPFP). Next steps are to have the Impartial Services Group arrange the surrender of the vehicle (and payout of settlement).
For those of you have been through this, is there anything I should be concerned about? From my discussions with BMW NA, the remaining steps seem pretty straight forward... |

Did you already turn in your car? I was told that I would receive my check the day the car is turned in.

Yep, their only offer was do a lemon law buy back. So yes - the car is going to be lemoned... Does this mean you are keeping your car?

yeah i had two options.
one was to lemon no cash in my pocket. other was to have some cash in my pocket and keep it. the only reason i wanted to lemon it was for the break squeak sensors. i must say i wasnt expecting the amount of cash they offered me. ![]() |

Not sure how this fits into the convo, but we had a 2007 x5 3.0 that had power issues. The head lamps would flicker when the car was parked and the heated seats were going. After numerous service trips, they gave up and said it could not be fixed.
Long story short, we got a brand new 2010 x5 3.0 and the only cost was paying a few cents per mile on the 2007. |

yes thats the way it works. if you lemon it you will have to pay a certain amount. depending on how many miles you put on since you bought the car.

Thanks for all the feedback. I opened the case with BMW NA just before Thanksgiving. If all goes as planned, the entire process will be wrapped up in less than one month. Not too bad.

Done deal!
It took 30 days total from filing my complaint to turning the car in and receiving my settlement. I have to say that BMW definitely stepped up and made a pretty bad situation about as painless as possible...

Hello, I am in a similar situation with my 335d. Car in shop for 10k worth of work thus far.. plus now ends up being i need a NEW motor?!? Warranty has covered all work.
How do I go about approaching BMW NA in order to get a buy back. I would like to purchase a new BMW, this time a non-diesel. Do i need a lawyer? Anyone have sample letters/documents sent to BMW NA that I can use as a template. |
