I just bought a Motorola Moto X and Im coming from an iphone 5. Help

OK so after having iphones since 2008 I decided to take the plunge and mix it up a bit. I replaced my iPhone 5 with a Motorola Moto X which is basically a Motorola Ultra or Maxx just a bit smaller and ATT not Verizon.

Now I need help. I can do basic stuff on it but for the most part I'm lost. What are you must know this or change that things about the phone and settings. For example I have no idea how to control what is running in the back ground all the time and don't want to crush data for no reason. Also what ate some security settings I might want so randoms can't creep on my stuff or so my browser's secure etc. Or cook stuff slash must have apps or info for settings. I can't even set a pic I like as a wallpaper... I don't know how. Also what do I do about music? All my stuff is on iTunes or iTunes DVDs... I guess I could just do spotify? Helppp

If you need a manual it is a failure as a product... You should not need a manual to use a phone.

When someone comes into off-topic to post about how to use a phone he probably needs more help than a manual

Did I not give you a link to the user manual to your phone that you can't figure out? I have an iPhone also, and I know it would be somewhat difficult to swap over. But just playing with the phone for 30 mins or so and you should be able to figure most of it out by yourself. before you tell me I'm not helping you out

Here is the moto X help desk by AT&T.

http://www.att.com/devicehowto/?make...l=motox(xt1058)

From the home screen, swipe down the Notifications bar.

Tap the Menu icon.

Tap Settings.

Scroll to, then tap Apps.

Swipe left to navigate to RUNNING.

Tap the desired app.

Tap Stop.

Steve Jobs is keeping a close eye on you. Your struggles reflect this. Might want to go get your iPhone back.

lol @ this thread.

I would think closing background apps is a pretty basic function. Not very advanced.

I switched to Android from iOS recently... It was pretty easy...

Vary rare you would need to stop an app on Android. It is smart in how it works and if you are not using it then it will not doing anything or using battery. On top of that if you need more resources the phone will close or stop what it needs to get it. Force stopping apps on the Android can cause some corruption in the app. I DO NOT recommend it.

Not a true statement, I have Android phone for work and it does allow apps to run in the back ground and hog battery life BTW I am on 4.1.1. I have seen and experience it, the problem is you can not always tell which app it causing it and you have to kill them all or reboot the phone. I also seen where I just launched and app and switch to another one and when I came back to the original app Android kill the app on it own but show it was still in the background running. So it whole process and memory management still have a lot of work in front of it.

YES, It is true. Go read the white papers on how the Android OS works. If something is taking your batter you could have something hung and might need a reinstall, but that's a programmers fault and not the OS fault. Also you killing app(s) could be most of your issue. It causes corruption. Only real issue with the OS was pre Android 4 had some users had fragging, but that has mostly been fixed. The way the OS runs the fragging was really not much of an issue at all, but someone had to try to make the OS look bad.

Don't worry about closing any app. It will take care of itself.
