How much variance from OEM tire sizes is okay?
Hi everyone, I'm considering getting BMW Style 313s and some tires for them. I know from the factory that they come with 225/35/19 on 19x8 and 255/30/19 on 19x9, but the tires I'm looking at (Hankook Ventus V12) only come in 235/35/19 and 265/30/19. This would result in the overall diameter of the wheel being a little over a quarter inch bigger.
My biggest concern is how they will look - I like the way the OEM runflats look on the Style 313 wheels - will the 10mm wider tires cause them to look too big and bulgy? Thanks!

I'm running 313's with 245/275's on stock ZSP suspension and love the performance and the look. Teeeeeny rubbing on the front tires in full lock when reversing but as they wear the rubbing has pretty much gone away.
235/265 will be awesome. |

Awesome, thanks for the reassurance! Now I just have to pick a tire. Considering giving the budget tires (either Kumho Ecsta LE Sport or Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110) a shot, especially since they'll only see use at most six months of a year and three months this year.

Hankooks are probably the best budget tire when it comes to bang for the buck... that's what I've heard at least. I trust tire rack's surveys feature when picking tires- it's usually spot on and well calibrated to choose between models.

![]() Please consider that because you are running 8x19F/9x19R, you should consider the cost of the tire and 225F/265R would be perfect fitment because they are the closest in wheel diameter. Check out this link, too, because it shows min/max wheel width each size tire can fit: http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp You will save bucks on 225, rather than 235.

Hankook Ventus V12s run a bit on the narrow side I'd say, so I wouldn't be too concerned jumping up in width.

I'd still go with 235 to avoid introducing yet more understeer if you are up-sizing the rears.
But if you're just doing it for looks..... |

As for looks, I'm not a fan of the stretched look, the OEM RFTs at 225 on the 8" wheel are as stretched as I'd go.

as it is with the narrower Hankooks your tread ratio is biased towards understeer even in stock sizes (compared to the OEM RFTs). The more front tire the better, particularly if you are going wider relatively in the rear.
It's up to you whether it's worth the cash. If you aren't pushing it, you may never notice. But the other thing to keep in mind is the 265 will be taller, and if you don't also go plus one wider on the front that might look a little odd. Again, it's your money and your choice- I'm just offering an opinion. |

You may have already ordered, but I'm running 225/35/19 and 265/30/19 Hankook V12's on my 313's. The tires fit perfectly with the wheels. No stretch or "spill over" on either the front or rear.
