X drive and staggered wheels

How friendly is the awd system with staggered wheels? Work well or not?

As long as it's an OEM size, it works fine. Sport package 335i can/could be factory ordered with them.

My factory size is 17. So what your saying is only do it if I get a 17" wheel?

I have oem style 197 18" on 328xi. So far didn't have any problems.

I have a E91 xdrive with sports package/staggered, OEM style 286 17x8.0 front and 17x8.5 back. If you go up a size for rims, you can use the wheel offset calculator at the top and as far as i know, as long as the wheel diameter is within 3% then thats OK for xdrive setup

actually, i think this rule applies to all cars (speedometer, tpms, abs, etc)

3%?!?

Pretty sure it should be under 1%........

In the front mine is at 1.9% and the rear is at 4%. Whats the big deal??

Never mind, just played around with it I understand it now. But if its over 1% what happens besides the speedo reading differently?

Xi models came with staggered rims/tires. Keep your rolling diameter within 1% and you will be fine.

How about you enlighten us then as which part is going to be damaged if the diameter is over 1%?

Yes you can stagger on a XI.. I got my old rims on my new ride, as long as the tires match the specs in your manual you are g2g.

Staggered wheels and tires are very common on the xi, you just need to keep the rolling diameter within 1% between front and rear wheels. Some people prefer to keep things square to avoid any headaches though.

mines a e92 335xi and its staggered. only bummer is you cant rotate your tires to make them last longer so theyll wear quicker but no i dont mind them at all.
