e90 LCI XDrive wheel fitment

Upgraded from an E46 to a 90 XDrive Sedan and just bought a set of 17 x 8 inch style 42's for my e90 LCI Xdrive sedan, +20 offset. I have stock suspension. Want to run 225 45's or 50's all around. Will either rub?

I know the speedo will be off, but right now it's 3 miles optimistic. Don't plan on dropping it just yet since I just bought the car.

The fitment between the E46 and an E90 LCI is similar, however I don't recommend those wheel specs in general. 225/45/17 would be more ideal of those two sizes.

I was worried the 20 offset with 225's on the LCI would stick out too far and rub when going over bumps and potholes. Haven't had good luck with 18's, bent rims and leaks due to the smaller sidewall. I wanted to try 50's on 17x8's with a smaller offset, ie, from 31 offset on a 16x7 wheel (205/55/16) to a 20 offset on 225/50/17.

Didn't consider rubbing still I started reading some of the posts about larger wheels with smaller offsets that stick out past the fender.

Not a big fan of the offset on the stock 16's on the LCI, Wheels look tucked and resembles a toy car.

Sizing down the wheels definitely sounds like a good idea in your case, however you still want to keep the overall rolling diameter the same as stock, so you don't throw off your speedo and whatnot.
