Fair OTD Price on a CPO?
CPO 2010 335i
Black/Black M-Sport Cold Weather Premium 15.5k miles 6-Speed Manual dealer is asking $38,000 - and the trade in "excellent" condition is $31k. I called to inquire about this car early last week and threw a number at them (albeit lowball, but a number) at $33k OTD. The salesguy, who was one hell of a nice guy, respectfully skoffed at the offer, explaining their cost to CPO a vehicle, this car is "like-new" etc, etc. (the pictures do his words justice) Since then, I've received three calls just seeing if I was still interested, and seemed willing to negotiate the pricing of the vehicle. I have a sneaky suspicion that I was closer to a fair number than originally hinted at. So.. 1.) does anyone have any insight to the cost of CPO'ing a vehicle (he claims $2k) 2.) seem like a fair deal? I know i've started a lot of these threads but, being fairly blind to the BMW market and this being my first "major" purchase out of college, I want to be sure I'm getting a fair shake. Thanks, Sep |

Exactly right. I'd bet quite a bit less.
Look it up, take your pick of any site. You certainly don't have to take it or trade it in to the dealer but you'd be shocked how poor the trade in value is. I bought mine but it makes me think leasing is a much better play on these cars. There's NO WAY this car has anything close to the residual value they are writing the leases at. |

These cars only have poor values to people on this site.

I bought a 2011 CPO 335d from a dealer here in S Florida 2 weeks ago. He gave me a copy of the CPO work which totaled about $1,800 which included new tires, new brakes and some other repair work to get it up to BMW CPO standards. I think he said they have to pay BMW something like $500 or so for the CPO certification. Hope that helps.

![]() If anything, spec out a new car with similar options @ truecar.com. Then if the car is 3 years old take .59% of that price and that is about where the "value" of a comparable used car should be. I like to use 20% depreciation for the first year and 10% for each year after that. If they won't bend on price... Then have them toss in something like the 5 year transferable or prorated when cancelled bmw wheel/tire insurance ($800 value) or the bmw maintenance plan ($1000 value). Reasonable Offer - For you or them?

I've never been afraid to low-ball an offer. I'm in sales and I've had it happen so many times the other way. However, they have a 3.5 year old car with 15k miles on it. They kind of have you if you are in love with this car. You can find something similar and pay less. Stick to your offer if you are willing to walk away. Let us know how it goes. Good luck. |

I paid 33,900 for my CPO'd 2011 m-sport coupe with 40k miles. It was black with oyster interior and 6MT. I was in love. Probably over paid a little bit but it's a rare car and I got what I wanted.

Galves Trade-in price is $24850 and Galves Market Ready (wholesale auction in perfect condition) is $26,300 so these figures as reference. $1200 more with nav.
