Painted my Calipers-2007 328i e90 Before and After

Hello,

I just painted my calipers and took some photos along the way. Here is the before and after, let me know what you think!

I purchased some Caliper Cleaner and some Caliper paint from Autozone...nothing special. I ended up using the color "Chevy Orange-Red"- the reason I went with the Orange-red, is because on one of my friends cars he used Ferrari Red, and it looks real dark under the wheels.

I wanted my color to really pop, so I figured the Orange/Red combo would be a bit brighter.

Here are the photos...in the end, I was right. It looks very orange while I painted them, but after I put the wheels back on, and in the sun, they look Red.

I used the Caliper Cleaner for any overspray and it came off quite easily. I haven't done the rears yet...but I will tackle them another weekend.

Good luck with yours if you do them!

Haha, whatever. Car customization is all about personal preference...if anyone hates on you, they are either jealous or just don't get it. Not my problem.

Thanks though, Ill look into the clear coat. I was actually gonna go with a fluorescent yellow or a fluorescent orange, but couldn't find a high temperature version of those colors. I'm sure that would have really pissed people off! lol

Do most painted their calipers while it's on the car? I just thought you would have to take it off to paint it for some reason.

This was the first time I have ever painted calipers, so I suppose it is possible to remove them beforehand.

All the DIY Caliper painting instructions I found online and on Youtube had them painted while still on the car.

Im sure if you had the mechanical abilities to take them off an paint them, it would work fine.

I knew by keeping the calipers on the car, it would be very difficult for me to get paint on the brake pads or any other sensitive spots.

Either way, im pretty happy with the results. Good luck on your DIY project!

Keep in mind, had you got any on the brake pads, the act of braking alone would remove any paint on them

Yeah it would wear away eventually, but I wouldn't want it to leave any orange/red streaks on the rotors.

A little Caliper Cleaner cleans up all overspray quite easily...
