Those are probably letters from (non-manufacturer) warranty companies trying to sell you an extended warranty.

I got my Platinum 5 year/100K extended warranty through BMW for $2,580. Supposedly the retail price is $3,080.

Probably 3rd party, not mail from BMWNA?

Not applicable for Texas, but anyone in California, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland,
Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont or Washington, the CA Emissions Control Warranty covers the car for 7 yrs or 70,000 miles. I was going to purchase the Gold extended warranty but after stumbling across this warranty all of the emissions control devices that I was worried about are covered for me. So I am not going to purchase the extended warranty and do the maintenance myself. All of the issues I have had with the car are emissions related. Fingers crossed, I will roll the dice.
