Just a few questions
Kind of new to my 08 335i. Hoping some of you could give me a few answers.
1. What is the stock amount of boost per turbo? 2. What is the most boost I could tune the stock turbo to safely? 3. Looking to get more sound, and save some money. Can I use straight pipe all the way through? Will taking out the resignators throw any codes? Hopefully some of you with a brain for this kind of stuff can help me out a little bit. Ty. |

1: Stock boost is ~8psi. Think about it this way: turbochargers do not produce boost, they generate air flow and boost is just a measurent of the pressure in the intake manifold generated by that air flow.
2: Generally speaking, at sea level 18psi peak low in the RPMs with tapering off to ~12psi near redline is still within the stock turbos efficiency. However, with that said, anytime you start pushing a component near it's limits you run the risk of reducing it's lifespan. 3: I would never recommend doing a straight pipe on the N54. With no cats or resonators in place the exhaust is VERY raspy and unpleasent and there isn't hardly any power benefits. If you're looking for just sound I would leave the stock resonators in place and remove the cats in the midpipe and then perform the "golf tee mod" by unhooking the exhaust solenoid in the trunk. If that's not enough then I would look into having an exhaust shop replace you mufflers with performance mufflers. If you plan on tuning the car I recommend going with catless downpipes(which we carry several brands at awesome prices BTW) and then either do the golf tee mod or aftermarket mufflers. Hope that helps |

+1 i am now fully catless (catless downpipes + catless exhaust) and i honestly dont think it was worth it lol. should have just kept my stock exhaust system, cut the cats out, and got some 335is mufflers for sound.
