OT: Driving from Brussels
Well just got back from a two dayer in Brussels.
Managed to go from Waterloo, to Byfleet in 3 hours flat ! Left at.... hang on that can't be right... Ahh damit Think it was 4.5 hours.... Still not bad considering I waited for an hour at the tunnel terminal. Anyone been able to cut through BELGIAN rush hour that quick ! Wasn't doing silly speeds either, NEVER went above 95 and stayed at 75 once in UK. NOT in the beemer I hasten to add, had the diesel Merc to romp in, which saves me the mileage.. anyway knackered, drooling, with a terrible cold and now feel like I'm rambling.... Might just go to bed SJ (p.s. hey guys !) |

Welcome back... how long did the drive from Brussels town centre to Calais take you?? (I've done it a few times, and the quickest was bordering on the insane, but I won't incriminate myself on here...)? Oh, and did u get flashed by the camera 20km outside Calais?? It's a little bugger that one... can't ever see it until it blinks at you! Five times it's got me - maybe six - have never had anything through the mail though thank god..!

I'm not sure which bit was the 3.5 hours.
I've driven back from Leeds to New Haw on a Friday night in 2 hours 20mins - which I thought was good going

Yeah - was dragged up around Byfleet / New Haw.Was born in Woking... Used to live just off Woodham lane - and worked at Cisco in Stockley Park / Bedfont Lakes for five years. Not so close now though ...Moved down to sunny Dorset a couple of years ago though - and am loving the rural idyll. Broadband made it possible....

I wasn't even consciously going warp speed either - just pulled up at home.. went in the kitchen (Mrs said "you made good time..." ) looked at the clock and thought bloody ell that is incredible. Usually took 3 or 3.5 easy....and once or twice 5 hours on a Friday night.

I'm usually only heading to the airport though...although to be honest you can get stuck in the "Laps of Heathrow" stack on a Friday Night - so driving could be quicker !

Heh I was taking NO prisoners on the ring.
Liberal use of lights and horn to scare away the overly polite belgians trying to squeeze into non existant gaps. And for some reason, people seem to move across with the mercedes up their ass... ? Lol mr asshole driver.... But they'd all be thinking "bloody Britisher" anyway, so I might as well live up to their expectations :P I'm much more respectful in the UK by the way, seriously courteous here. ;p SJ |
