Absolutely true, you should never put your life at risk in order to avoid an accident. Different scenario here. This is a difference between letting the owner know and not.

In my opinion, some animals deserve to live more than some people.

Put yourself in the cat's position. Someday someone may make that descision for you too! Would that be okay?

Dawgdog's exactly right and that's the same thing I taught my kids. I also add that they need to stay well clear of any moron who has a "I brake for animals" bumper sticker. I guess these twits think that the sticker absolves them of someone elses injury or death as a result of any idiotic maneuver they may make.
I totally agree with that statement i live in NYC but also have a house in the mountains in PA. The roads are very narrow there and barely enough for a car goin each way. The first thing u learn driving is if an animal jumps out in front of your car never try and go around or avoid it drive straight through it.
If you go off the road at like 50 or 60 and hit a tree u are dead. Its better to hit the animal then a 3-4 foot wide tree. I have seen some bad accidents when people tried to avoid a deer and ended up goin off the road and hittin a tree and almost gettin them selves killed.

This all comes down to natural selection, if any animal is too dumb to realize that crossing the road with cars on it is a bad idea, it should be dead.

...as long as you didn't hit a dog..

but seriously, the donating to an animal shelter idea is a good one if you still feel guilty.

Totally agree with this. If the child is too dumb to not play with a hand gun then it should be dead. Just natural selection.

A pigeon collided with my car yesterday.

Do I feel guilty? No

Do I feel that it should die? No

Do I feel that it is stupid and natural evolution's not working? Yes and Yes
