Sludge in Engine n52 330i

Just this afternoon I went to change my oil and noticed some buildup inside the engine looking in from the oil cap....I normally follow Bmw oil change intervals with bmw 5w-30 oil but last oil change I used Castrol 5w-30 from autozone which the habberstadt bmw dealership told me was the same thing as BMW oil, Well come to find out now that's a load of bullshit...I went just under 10k on this OCI and boy am mad for taking the service advisor Anselmo Paulinos word about being the same oil....these r the pics of what I could manage to take with my phone camera....Any suggestions on What to do?????... I was thinking of using a liqui Molly engine flush be4 my next oil change also Bmw told me about an induction service for about 200$.....Please help, ALL SUGGESTIONS WELCOME

what's your mileage?
looks to me like that came from years of neglect, not from one oil change cycle.
I would take the $200 dealer service.

Yea that's definitely not normal at all. I sold my 06 e90 325 with 97k on it and there wasn't an ounce of sludge buildup inside and all i ever used was 0w40 mobil 1 or bmw 5-30 at the bmw parts counter. Do whatever to flush that shit out and do another oil change.

Flush everything, clean it out and start over. Maybe even do another oil change after 1k just to make sure all the old shit is out.

If your only changing your oil when the cars condition based service tells you to, I would say that's normal engine operation.

Also we dont know what your driving conditions are like.

highway vs. city miles
length(time) of run cycles
and driving habits/style.

Taking the dealer service will not hurt it and changing your oil every 7500 miles is a happy medium for most owners.

I wonder if this is due to bad crankcase ventilation

Yikes- Maybe the new oil had a different detergent blend that loosened up residue that was already in your engine.
